Mahomes has won the weekly award four times — but not since 2019.

On Monday, the NFL announced that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been nominated to become Week 4’s FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week.

The Chiefs quarterback completed 24 of 30 passes for 278 yards, five touchdowns and one interception — good for a 131.0 passer rating — in Sunday’s 42-30 defeat of the Philadelphia Eagles, which evened the team’s 2021 record at 2-2.

This week, the other nominees are quarterbacks Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Daniel Jones of the New York Giants.

Mahomes also was nominated after the team’s Week 1 victory over the Cleveland Browns — but came in third in the voting behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Tom Brady and the Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott. During the first three weeks of the season, Brady has now won the award twice.

Mahomes won the weekly award three times in 2018 — when he was also named the FedEx Air NFL Player of the Year — and won it once in 2019.

Voting is open until Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Arrowhead Time. Click here to vote now. You can also vote on Twitter through @NFL published polls and on the NFL Mobile App.

FedEx will make a $2,000 donation to historically black colleges and universities in the names of both the winning quarterback and running back.
