There are plenty of competitors on the roster

The Buffalo Bills have plenty of players who could contend for the team lead in sacks during the 2021 season. This is certainly an area where fans look for improvement in 2021, as the team leaders in 2020 (A.J. Klein and Mario Addison) finished with five sacks each on the year.

The Bills have invested heavily in the pass rush during the past two NFL Drafts with defensive ends A.J. Epenesa, Gregory Rousseau, and Carlos Basham, Jr. selected in the first two rounds. How much this trio plays this season is something to keep an eye on, to see if one of the younger options establishes themselves in the rotation early in 2021. Should one of the three live up to their potential throughout training camp and the preseason, they could contend for the team lead.

Ed Oliver is the best option from the interior of the defensive line, looking to improve on three sacks from last season. Fan expectations remain high for the former number-nine overall pick, to see if he can make a step forward in his third season.

The final two options for Buffalo are the veterans of the group—Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison. The duo served as the main starters for the club last season, contending for the team lead. With Addison (33 years old) and Hughes (32) nearing the end of their contracts in Buffalo, could mean diminishing snaps this season as the team may want to consider the aforementioned options in Epenesa, Rousseau and Basham.
