Washington Football Team Rookie Receiver Dyami Brown is Looking The Part Early in Training Camp

I am a BIG Dyami Brown Fan!

When the Washington Football Team selected the North Carolina speedster in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft, I was elated; 1)because I didn’t expect him to be there when we picked, and 2)I felt he was the perfect compliment to Terry McLaurin on the outside as a true deep threat (he averaged more than 20 YPR during his last two years in Chapel Hill).

Just three days into training camp in Richmond, Brown is already impressing coaches and teammates with his poise, attention to detail, maturity, route-running and play-making ability.

And this is just the very tip of the iceberg!

At a chiseled 6’0” 5/8 195 pounds, with 4.4 speed and a 36” vertical, Brown possesses unique ball-tracking skills on deep passes and jump-ball type throws. But that is not all.

Although he ran a rather limited route tree at North Carolina, he’s come in during OTA’s, mini-camp, and the first few days of training camp, and shown he has the skillset to become a complete receiver.

A few weeks ago, our own KyleSmithforGM wrote this article on Brown, regularly citing publications calling him “The Steal of the Draft”.

A large part of his early emergence is due to the presence of third year receiver Terry McLaurin.

In a recent interview by Sharla McBride from WUSA9, Brown cited his budding relationship with McLaurin and the advice the veteran has give to him, as part of his early maturation process.

“He’s amazing! He actually came to me and said if I needed any help that I could come to him. I’ve been pretty much watching him the whole time. So that’s been one important thing for me, that I have someone who can help me,” Brown said. “When he helps me get better, I can end up helping him as well, so it works.

The Washington Post reported that Brown has seen some camp reps working from the slot, as well as the outside. It’s this type of versatility that could lead to significant playing time for the rookie.

It seems wherever he is lining up, he’s been impressive!

Brown shows nice ability to stick the foot into the ground, snap his head around, and come back to the football for the catch on this out route.

If the rookie keeps up this torrid pace during training camp and into the preseason schedule, it’s going to be hard to keep him off the field come the regular season. And, he should certainly see that Madden rating soar in 2022!
