With the 20th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Washington Huskies offensive tackle Troy Fautanu, who just so happened to grow up as a Steelers fan.

Could you write history any more beautifully? No. You could not.

And in that moment that he got the call, Fautanu knew it. The emotion was palpable.

Fautanu spent his collegiate career with the Huskies playing primarily left tackle, mixed with some reps at left guard. To which side of the line the Steelers project to send Fautanu remains unclear, having selected OT Broderick Jones in the first round just last year. Jones, another career left tackle, ended up sliding to the right side of the offensive line amidst the benching of RT Chuks Okorafor, though it was clear in his reps there that he was more effective on the left side of the line.

Regardless, the Steelers have the entire offseason to figure out how to configure their new-look offensive line. For now, they can bask in the joy of nabbing an absolute STEAL with the 20th overall pick.
