Carson Wentz will have a plethora of weapons to work with this season, but one of the guys which many people and fans will have their eyes on is wideout Parris Campbell.

The third-year wide receiver, when healthy, has had a few different instances where his track-like speed and big-play YAC abilities have been on display during games. Now that he’s 100% healthy, what are some realistic expectations for him going into the 2021 season?

Without question, the talent is certainly there. But injuries in each of his first two seasons have plagued the former second-round pick. In Week 1 of last season, Campbell had 5 catches for 74 yards, which really gave a glimpse into how Frank Reich and then-offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni wanted to utilize the slot receiver.

He’s the kind of player who can wear many different hats — whether it’s in the screen game, kick return game, through jet sweeps, deep crossers and even over the top — Campbell brings many different elements to Indy’s offense.

Campbell spoke with fellow Colts’ media back in May, and he highlighted some of the things which he’s looking forward to this season, as well as what it was like being a full-go participant for the first time in nearly eight months.

“Feels good to be back out there having fun,” Campbell said.

Even through all of the hardships, Campbell remained optimistic and is motivated going into this season.

“Some of these injuries are just freak injuries, but it’s definitely been frustrating,” Campbell said. “But I’m also motivated for what’s ahead.”

The wide receiver also noted the importance of putting the injuries past him and focusing on what’s in front of him.

“The biggest thing for me is going to be going into this season and not thinking about those things,” Campbell said. “I kind of feel like you’ll play timid, play nervous. Just go in there with a clear head.”

One thing’s for certain, the injuries haven’t seemed to remove Campbell’s motivation, and he’s extremely confident in being able to develop a strong chemistry with Wentz throughout the rest of the offseason and going into the regular season.

“We’ve already connected and have been throwing outside of here,” Campbell said. “So, it’s honestly been going good. Carson’s a great guy; great quarterback, so it’s easy to be on pace with him.”

People are right to be intrigued and excited about the various ways in which the Colts will get Campbell involved this season. In fact, many have predicted the wideout will have a breakout season in 2021.

With the past injuries behind him and looking ahead, a healthy Parris Campbell, in my mind, can not only add many big-play elements to the offense, but help the team as a whole take that next step from being just considered a ‘very good team,’ to one of the NFL’s best teams this season.
