The Chicago Bears have shored up the offensive line with the signing of former Los Angeles Rams center Coleman Shelton to a one-year deal.

Shelton, an undrafted free agent in 2018, started all 17 games at center for the Los Angeles Rams last season. He started all 13 games he appeared in during the 2022 season, where he split time between left guard, center and right guard. In 2023, Shelton allowed 34 QB pressures, 2.0 sacks, 11 hits and 21 hurries.

Shelton comes to Chicago to compete with Ryan Bates, who they acquired in a trade, for the starting center job. And it’s hard to rule out the Bears targeting a center in this year’s draft class.

We spoke to Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire, who gave us the rundown on what we can expect from the Bears’ new center and why he could be a good fit for Chicago.
