Where does strength of Jets’ grueling 2022 schedule rank?

Even after a flurry of roster changes, things might not get better for the Jets in 2022.

That’s because New York has the second-hardest strength of schedule this upcoming season, according to Sharp Football Analysis. The only team with a tougher schedule is the Kansas City Chiefs. This calculation is based on two things: the Jets’ projected win total and the projected win total of the Jets’ opponents, according to Vegas oddsmakers.

The Jets were already at a disadvantage with a projected win total of just 5.5, but they’ll also play some of the NFL’s toughest divisions and quarterbacks this year, in addition to facing the Bills, Dolphins and Patriots twice. New York plays the AFC North with Joe Burrow, Deshaun Watson and Lamar Jackson, as well as the AFC West with Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Justin Herbert and Derek Carr. They will also face Aaron Rodgers.

It would be a surprise if the Jets end their 11-year playoff drought in 2022 with this tough of a schedule, but stranger things have happened.
