Who’s most likely to represent the Bills in the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl?

Although the 2021 NFL Pro Bowl was not the traditional, 11-on-11 showdown of the stars, the NFL still found a way to showcase its players by allowing them to compete against each other virtually on Madden 21. Five Buffalo Bills players from last season were named to the Pro Bowl team, including Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Tremaine Edmunds, Tre’Davious White, and Andre Roberts. Let’s look at who could represent the Buffalo Bills next season in the 2022 NFL Pro Bowl in Las Vegas.

Most likely

Obviously, a lot can change over the course of a year with injuries, signings, and regression, but if all goes as planned, the Bills should be looking at a minimum of three players in the Pro Bowl. Both Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs were named to their first NFL Pro Bowl last season, as Diggs led the entire NFL in receiving yards and Josh Allen had MVP runner-up numbers. Coming off an All-Pro and Pro Bowl 2019 season, Tre’Davious White was named a Pro Bowler as well as the second-team All-Pro. If these three can stay healthy throughout the year, there is no reason for any of them to miss out on the 2022 Pro Bowl.

On the fence

Tremaine Edmunds was named to the AFC Pro Bowl team for the second consecutive year as the second ILB behind Darius Leonard. With Buffalo exercising the 2022 fifth-year option, Edmunds will be playing for a new contract. That situation could add a little extra boost, which many Bills fans have been patiently waiting for from Edmunds. Dion Dawkins is a name to keep an eye on throughout the season. Dawkins has not missed a start in his three years as the full-time left tackle and has never missed a game in his four-year career so far with the Bills. With most of the top left tackles in the league residing in the NFC, Dawkins’s main competition for a Pro Bowl selection this year is most likely Ronnie Stanley, Orlando Brown Jr., and Laremy Tunsil. If Dawkins can stay healthy and the Bills’ offensive line can mesh together well, Dawkins may finally get the praise he deserves. The AFC is stacked with talent at the safety position and even as Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer continue to produce and be vital pieces to the Buffalo defense, it won’t be easy for them to top guys like Minkah Fitzpatrick, Tyrann Mathieu, and Justin Simmons.

Long Shots

After a career year last season for Cole Beasley, with 82 catches for 967 yards and four touchdowns, there is no doubt he has put himself in the conversation for best slot receiver in the league. Even with an extra game this season, a slight rise in his numbers may not get him the nod to his first Pro Bowl. With names like Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, Julio Jones, and A.J. Brown in the AFC, it may be tough for Beasley to crack that barrier. Since being drafted in 2019, Bills fans have been waiting for Ed Oliver’s coming out party. With fellow defensive tackle Star Lotulelei coming back after opting out last season, we could see an uptick in Oliver’s numbers. I do believe Oliver possesses the skills to become a Pro Bowl player, but the numbers haven’t been there the last two seasons. With some elite DT talent in the AFC, it will be a tough task for Oliver to be selected.
