The Denver Broncos have traded Von Miller and now they should contact the New Orleans Saints about trading Teddy Bridgewater.

The season is over.

That was the message Denver Broncos general manager George Paton sent to the team and all of us fans when he traded away Von Miller to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday. And you know what? That’s okay.

We all were seeing the end and its good someone in Dove Valley had the courage to make it official. With that ending, Paton should look to make another trade or two before Tuesday’s deadline to continue piling up 2022 NFL Draft picks.

At the top of my list is the Broncos starting quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater.

With winning no longer the top priority in 2021, at least as far as George Paton is concerned, then it makes sense to go get some value out of Bridgewater. The team at the top of that list should be the New Orleans Saints who just learned their starting quarterback Jamies Winston is done for the season with a torn ACL.

Trevor Siemian is still beloved by many Broncos fans, but he is probably good for a couple of weeks before teams begin keying on his weaknesses. It would make sense for Sean Payton to get a deal done if he has any hopes of making a playoff push this season.

Denver would be able to get a premium for Bridgewater merely because quarterbacks always demand a premium in a trade. A first round pick is probably a lofty dream, but I could definitely see a Day 2 pick being on the table for a starting quarterback of Bridgewater’s caliber. He also went 5-0 as a starter for Payton back in 2019.

Trading Bridgewater also gives us the excuse to see what we actually have in Drew Lock. While I saw enough in 2020 to believe quarterback is at the top of the Broncos wish list in 2022, there are enough fans that still believe in him that giving him another chance is worth playing out. I also think it will increase Denver’s chances of tanking to a better draft pick.

And let’s face it, Paton is playing the draft pick game now. Let’s go get them!
