Mike Florio thinks they might top the list

Will the NFL return to St. Louis soon? When it comes to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, I think I’ve learned when best to tune out and when to tune in, and when it comes to league office matters, that’s when I am listening to PFT. On Thursday, Florio was taking questions and one was regarding NFL expansion and what city the league might target next.

Florio’s first answer: St. Louis.

Florio makes a great point that the NFL’s growth will be linear, with the first step being a 17-game season and the second step being an 18-game season. The NFL is CLEARLY going to extend the season to 18 games, it is only a matter of time, but then they’re going to be capped right there. So the only way to create more regular season games will be to create more teams.

What seems more likely than a 33-team league: a 34-team league. Two new teams, potentially two new cities, unless the NFL decides to double-dip in London. But given the city of St. Louis’s lawsuit against the league, returning a team to Missouri could be a priority:

Now that the Rams are in Los Angeles, how would you feel about a new team in St. Louis? For those of you who became Rams fans because they were in St. Louis, would you follow both teams? Or too little, too late?
