Rodgers’ 2021 season plans become clearer one day before veterans are to report to Green Bay’s training camp.

During the Green Bay Packers’ annual shareholders meeting, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport dropped the news that Aaron Rodgers is leaning toward playing for the Packers this season.

The carefully crafted tweet maximizes the power of the words “indicated”, “plan” and “expectation” but in an offseason of drama and bad news, this is a positive moment for the franchise. Worth noting: This news came just minutes after the Packers’ president Mark Murphy, functionally the owner of the team, stated that the franchise was “committed to [Rodgers] for 2021 and beyond.”

Rodgers has not been willing to play hardball with the Packers this offseason, which both likely hurt his negotiating potential but also kept open the option for continued discourse with the team. At least as of now, we finally got an answer to the “Is Rodgers petty enough to retire?” question that everyone has been wondering about. The answer is no.

Rapoport claimed there are “many factors at play,” so this certainly isn’t the end of this saga but as Rodgers and Davante Adams’ Instagram posts alluding to The Last Dance hinted, the pair is on track to play at least one more season together in Green Bay.
