Alex Cappa still on scooter, Jonah Williams off crutch as OL rehab continues

Cincinnati Bengals offensive linemen Alex Cappa and Jonah Williams weren’t on the practice field Wednesday as the team began prep for the divisional round encounter with the Buffalo Bills.

That was a bad sign for both guys as Cappa works back from the ankle injury suffered in the season finale and Williams deals with the dislocated kneecap suffered in the first round of the playoffs.

Wednesday in the locker room, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Kelsey Conway, Cappa was still on the scooter and Williams had at least gotten rid of the one crutch while he walked.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor had described both Cappa and Williams as week-to-week early this week, effectively ruling them out for the game against the Bills.

All signs point to one or both being able to return eventually if the Bengals keep advancing, but the insight from the locker room explains why they weren’t out there on the practice field. Max Scharping remains at right guard in place of Cappa and Jackson Carman at left tackle for Williams.

ESPN’s Ben Baby caught up with Taylor on the topic Wednesday:
