The Chicago Bears suffered a brutal defeat to the Detroit Lions, 31-26, on Sunday, where they blew a 12-point lead in the final 4:15 to suffer their eighth loss of the season.

No one expected the Bears to upset the red-hot Lions. But it was the way Chicago lost that felt like the latest kick to the gut that the Matt Eberflus era has brought Bears fans. If you looked at the box score, you would’ve assumed Chicago won in convincing fashion. They dominated time of possession (40:24), won the turnover battle (+3) and had three Jared Goff interceptions.

But, as we’ve seen throughout Eberflus’ tenure, the Bears simply collapsed in the final minutes of the fourth quarter as the Lions went on to score 17 unanswered points in the span of 2:30.

As you can imagine, it wasn’t a pretty scene in the locker room after the game, where players like Justin Fields, DJ Moore, Montez Sweat, Jaylon Johnson, T.J. Edwards and Tyler Scott reflected on the frustration and disappointment from not winning a game they should’ve won.
