Cincinnati Bengals fans might remember referee Jerome Boger and his crew for a controversial whistle during last year’s playoff game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Bengals will get Boger and Co. again this weekend, as they’re the crew assigned to the team’s AFC North rematch with the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

According to The Athletic’s Jay Morrison, Boger’s crew ranks 14th in penalties called per game this year.

The Bengals last had Boger in Week 3 against the Jets, where they were whistled five times for 30 yards lost.

More notably, Boger’s crew had the errant mid-play whistle during a Joe Burrow touchdown pass in the first half of the playoff win over the Raiders that sent the NFL world into a tizzy. What followed was reports that Boger’s crew received poor grades and wouldn’t work the postseason again that year.

Which is to say the Bengals have a more interesting crew of officials than usual, which could mean more officiating taking the spotlight than normal.
