Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown projects to have a much bigger role in the backfield next season.

Now heading toward his sophomore season, Brown will help fill the void left by Joe Mixon’s departure in tandem with free-agent arrival Zack Moss.

And Brown’s recent comments about his offseason prep will have Bengals fans reminded of guys like Joe Burrow.

“I have a lot of people now around me to help keep my body in shape,” Brown said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I learned so much from last season and I’m taking that knowledge and doubling it in year two. I’m going to have a trainer with me and have a physical therapist and masseur come over to my house a few times a week. It’s investing in the craft, investing in my body. I think that’s where people are wrong, a little bit (in the offseason). They focus a little too much on the extracurriculars, travel, all that.”

An injury sidelined Brown as a rookie right before he seemed poised for a much bigger role. Upon his return, he certainly flashed in a big way, including that thrilling touchdown fans surely remember.

The Bengals might add to the running back room in the draft this month, sure, but Brown’s prep will put him in a position to see major work regardless.
