He is draft eligible.

The Cincinnati Bengals offensive line will be a storyline nearly every off-season. NFL Draft pick and free agent discussions have essentially started with offensive linemen every spring since Joe Burrow was drafted in 2020.

Offensive linemen are at such a premium that the Bengals are reportedly checking in on players from other sports.

Per NFL Network’s Tim Pelliserio, the Bengals are meeting today with former University of South Florida basketball player Bayron Matos.

Matos, who is from the Dominican Republic, participated in the NFL’s International Player Pathway program this year and has apparently made enough of an impression on clubs that he will likely get drafted as an offensive line prospect.

Scott Pioli, a former NFL personnel expert, thinks Matos could be drafted on the third day.

Matos stands at a massive 6-foot-7 and 313 pounds. Despite not playing organized football, he does have some experience, as he participated in spring football at USF. Matos moved to America when he was just 16 years old to pursue a basketball career, and now it looks like he could find himself in the NFL.

The level of interest the Bengals have in him could vary, but they did think enough of him to use one of their 30 pre-draft visit slots to get a closer look at him.

The NFL Draft kicks off Thursday, April 25th, with coverage throughout the weekend.
