As expected, the Cincinnati Bengals will move on from veteran safety Nick Scott in the wake of signing Geno Stone.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the news.

Scott signed with the Bengals last offseason as the team looked for veteran help after the departures of Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell. But he played just 52 percent of the snaps over 17 games, eventually losing time to rookie Jordan Battle.

The Bengals just agreed to sign Stone this week to start and/or rotate with Battle and former first-rounder Dax Hill. Depth remains an issue, but Scott’s release clears $2.3 million against the cap.

Cincinnati will likely address the position again multiple times through a combination of free agency and the draft.
