The Cincinnati Bengals trading Joe Mixon to the Houston Texans was a shocker, mostly because they had reportedly decided to cut their starting running back before a deal materialized.

At the time the trade was reported, there weren’t even compensation details.

But now we have those, with Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report reporting that the Bengals will get back a seventh-round pick in the exchange.

That’s a good deal for all parties: The Texans get a starting running back without needing to enter a bidding war, the Bengals get something in return for his departure, and Mixon gets to keep his current contract and all of its bonuses while going to a team that looks ready to contend around C.J. Stroud.

The Texans own three seventh-round picks in the upcoming draft (all No. 224 or later), but the point is, the Bengals will add a 10th pick in the draft via the move.
