The 2024 NFL Draft is finally upon us! Unlike any other professional or college sport, the NFL’s annual rookie selection process has become an event nearly as big as the sport’s playoff tournament. It isn’t always thrilling, but the various networks and outlets do a fantastic job of creating excitement between each digital jingle announcing to all that “the pick is in.”

For Bills Mafia, there’s once again a potential wait of more than three hours before the Buffalo Bills make their first pick at 28. Though anyone who’s followed along closely since general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott joined forces knows that a trade is a very real possibility.

Will the Bills’ decision makers find waiting too difficult and move up the board to select a player they covet? The team could benefit from adding blue-chip talent to the wide receiver room. Marvin Harrison Jr. would require a mammoth trade proposition, and that’s similarly the case with Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze. But if enough teams fall in love with drafting a quarterback, we could see as many as six QBs go within the top 15 picks. In that scenario, it’s possible we see someone like Odunze drop further than he should, and that’s when we might see One Bills Drive get antsy to move up.

There are plenty of wide receivers to choose from beyond the consensus top three. Most mocks have tied the Bills to either Brian Thomas Jr., Adonai “AD” Mitchell, and more recently Xavier Worthy. In some simulations, Thomas falls to 28. That’s unlikely in reality, but the trade up for him wouldn’t be as steep.

We’ve asked a few times already this week if trading up is worth it. Well, is it and do you believe that’s the move the Bills take? We’ll just have to wait and see how the board begins to shape up.

Here’s your open thread for all of tonight’s Round 1 excitement. We’ll update the draft results as picks become available.

Go Bills!
