The Chargers will once again be without several offensive weapons as season comes to an end.
With the season a wash and a new coaching staff coming in this offseason, one would expect the Chargers to continue seeing what they have amongst their backups all the way through the end of today’s game. In a surprising move, the Chargers are making second-year running back Isaiah Spiller inactive for today’s game against the Chiefs. For a team who needs to see everything they can from some of the fringe roster players, Spiller was expected to potentially lead the team in carries and yards today.
Apart from Spiller, the Chargers will be without a number of other starters on both sides of the ball. Offensively, wideouts Keenan Allen and Jalen Guyton, along with left guard Zion Johnson will be inactive vs. Kansas City. Defensively, the Chargers will be without linebacker Kenneth Murray and defensive tackle Nick Williams.
The only other inactive is safety JT Woods, a former third-round pick who has barely seen the field in two seasons. He’s missed most of the 2023 season with a non-football related injury.
