After one preseason contest, I’d say the Chargers already passed some early tests.

The offense, without Justin Herbert and the rest of the starters, managed to score a touchdown and control the clock enough to win a close one over the Rams on Saturday night. The defense provided the game’s only turnover and had themselves a handful of impact plays, as well.

Special teams were…well, they were better on kick coverages but they somehow still managed to blow several punt coverages and were even caught with 12 men on the field at one point. The improvements were noted and appreciated but the lows of the night were not much different from the egregious mistakes that littered the 2020 campaign.

Overall, a winning performance is just that. Sometimes it’s uglier than you want but the Bolts did exactly what they needed to come out on top in this one.

After one preseason game, I want to hear how confident everyone is feeling with this team. Go ahead and vote in the poll below and if there’s anything else you feel like sharing, go ahead and hit the comments section.

And now for today’s links.
