The Indianapolis Colts will meet with Texas wide reciever Xavier Worthy on an official pre-draft visit, according to Jordan Schultz.

At this year’s NFL Combine, Worthy set a new 40-yard dash record, running it in 4.21 seconds.

Worthy measures in at 5-11 but weighs just 165 pounds. In addition to his blazing-fast 40, Worthy posted a 41-inch vertical and jumped nearly 11 feet on the broad jump. He compiled an elite Relative Athletic Score of 9.37.

Worthy has been a big part of the Texas offense for three seasons, totaling at least 103 targets each year, including 119 in 2023, and has ample experience lining up both on the boundary and from the slot.

For his career, Worthy would catch 59 percent of his passes, but that figure did jump to 63 percent this past season. He averaged 14.0 yards per reception during his three years and eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in 2023. Worthy totaled 25 touchdowns, 12 of which came in 2021.

As you would expect with that speed, Worthy was very effective with the ball in his hands and is an instant downfield target.

For more on Worthy, here is what Daniel Jeremiah had to say about him in his pre-draft report:

“He plays inside and outside. He was used in a variety of ways at Texas, but he is at his best on double moves, shot plays and pure takeoffs. He is dynamic off the line and can tap into a second and third gear down the field. He also is crispy out of the break when asked to work back downhill. His hands have been spotty over his career, but he was much more reliable this past fall than he had been before. After the catch, he has a jet pack on his back. He explodes away from defenders and racks up big plays. Overall, Worthy seems like a taller version of Hollywood Brown — you can feel his speed in every game.”

The Colts could use an additional playmaking presence on offense, and Worthy would certainly provide that. In Shane Steichen’s offense, Worthy could cause some chaos pre-snap as the motion man.

Meanwhile, his speed and downfield abilities will not only create shot-play opportunities for Worthy to exploit, but that kind of gravity will draw the attention of safeties, generating space underneath and over the middle for other pass-catchers to take advantage of.
