Two more Lions will miss the start of camp.

Two additional Detroit Lions players will be absent for the start of training camp on Wednesday. The team announced that linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, while offensive lineman Evan Brown will start camp on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list.

Reeves-Maybin figures to be a significant part of the Lions linebacker room given his special teams skills and his athleticism that should be a better fit in the new defensive scheme.

The linebacker is the second Lions player to be placed on COVID-19 reserve. On Wednesday morning, though, head coach Dan Campbell said over 80 percent of players had been vaccinated and that number is growing.

As for Brown, he is expected to compete for one of Detroit’s depth pieces on the interior offensive line. The Lions let Oday Aboushi and Joe Dahl walk this offseason, so there will be some jobs up for grabs this camp.

Reeves-Maybin and Brown join Austin Bryant (Physically Unable to Perform), Javon McKinley (NFI) and Evan Heim (COVID) as now five players who will miss the start of camp.
