27) Miles Sanders – Sanders has shown flashes of being a really good player in both the run and pass games over his first two seasons. He was more productive as a runner in 2020, averaging 5.3 yards per carry, but wasn’t the pass-catching threat he was in his rookie season. Sanders must show up and have a Saquon Barkley-esque impact on the offense to help alleviate pressure from second-year QB Jalen Hurts. I’m looking for more consistency here. How much better can Sanders get? – NBCSP
He did rush for 867 yards and a 5.3 average, but 27 percent of those rushing yards came on three carries, and the consistency we saw in 2019 just wasn’t there. Sanders had trouble getting open and catching the football, his receiving stats plunged from 50-for-509 as a rookie to 28-for-197 (in 12 games), and his blocking dropped off as well. He averaged 3.8 yards per carry in four of his last five games. He’s never averaged 4.0 yards per carry three straight weeks. Sanders has shown signs of greatness, but he’s not a top-10 back. Singleton’s job is to make him one. “He was a guy coming out in the draft that I actually went to his pro day and worked him out and met with him and watched all his tapes, so I knew a lot about the young man, to be honest with you, from his college days and all that stuff,” Singleton said. “So I had a little bit of understanding of who he was as a player, then I went in and just looked at all the things that he had done since he’d been in the NFL and that’s part of helping him become a better player …”
Biggest concerns about the 2021 Eagles – BGN
For most teams, seeing your starting quarterback play like the worst quarterback in the NFL (relatable feeling) is the worst-case scenario. Not so for the 2021 Eagles! It’s obviously not ideal if Hurts is really, really bad in his first season as a full-time starter. But at least the Eagles would know for sure that they need to move on from him and find a new long-term option. And, thanks to Roseman’s maneuvering, the Eagles potentially have three first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft to help them quickly pivot away from Hurts. But what if Hurts isn’t super terrible but also isn’t super awesome? He’s too good for the Eagles to easily move on from him but not good enough to inspire confidence as a championship-caliber quarterback? Quarterback purgatory is one of the worst places to be in the NFL. Just look at the Las Vegas Raiders with Derek Carr or the Minnesota Vikings with Kirk Cousins.

NFL unable to confirm alleged comments made to Eugene Chung in interview – NFL.com
The NFL said Thursday that it is unable to confirm the nature or origin of alleged discriminatory statements made toward former Philadelphia Eagles assistant offensive line coach Eugene Chung following a review of the matter. In a statement obtained by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the league said, “After multiple discussions, including with Mr. Chung and his representative, we were unable to confirm the precise statement that was made, or by whom and under what circumstances any such statement was made.” The league announced on May 24 it would review an alleged comment made to Chung during a recent job interview that the longtime assistant coach was “not the right minority.”

Conclusions were made that “Bullying and intimidation frequently took place and many described the culture as one of fear, and numerous female employees reported having experienced sexual harassment and a general lack of respect in the workplace.” The consequences from the NFL? A ten step cultural sensitivity training program and a $10M fine. Oh, and a voluntary, temporary transfer of power to Tanya Snyder, while Dan tries to find a sucker to give him a stadium.

College athletes are benefiting from new NIL rules, but the fight is far from over – SB Nation
College athletes are enjoying a winning streak when it comes to benefiting from their work. Last week, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of unlimited education-related benefits. On June 30th, the NCAA preempted the passage of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) laws from going into effect in seven states by releasing interim guidelines for all NCAA programs. However, this is still too little, too late in the fight for athlete compensation and the fight is far from over. The Supreme Court ruling was lauded as a massive victory for college athletes, and in many ways it was. With limitations on education-related benefits being lifted, there are new ways that schools can provide for their athletes. However, the specificity of the ruling could create further legal difficulties for challenges to the NCAA’s model of exploitation. Gabe Feldman, a sports-law professor at Tulane, said the court “had the opportunity to undercut the N.C.A.A.’s broader amateurism argument and chose not to.”
