Jets training camp 90-man roster preview: Running Backs

The No. 1 spot on the Jets’ running back depth chart will be up for grabs once training camp kicks off.

Ty Johnson ended 2020 on a high note and profiles as the most natural fit for the job ahead of camp, but he will have plenty of competition to fend off before claiming the starting gig. Josh Adams flashed his potential at times in 2020, Michael Carter made waves throughout the spring, Tevin Coleman is a natural fit in Mike LaFleur’s offense, and La’Mical Perine carries plenty of promise entering his second year.

In other words, it’s going to be a busy summer for New York’s backfield.

Regardless of who earns the title of feature back, all of the Jets’ running backs figure to play some sort of role in LaFleur’s offense in 2021. With that being said, here is a breakdown of all five of the tailbacks on New York’s 90-man roster with training camp nearing.
