Week 5 game status updates.

The Philadelphia Eagles issued their third and final official injury report on Friday in advance of their Week 5 game against the Carolina Panthers.

One player was ruled OUT: Lane Johnson.

Johnson is still out due to a “personal matter.” Nick Sirianni wouldn’t say who will start at right tackle in his place. The guess here is that Jordan Mailata will get the nod with Andre Dillard staying at left tackle. But we’ll see.

Mailata was a full participant on Friday after being limited earlier in the week.

Darius Slay returned to practice on Friday after missing Thursday due to the birth of his newborn son.

CAROLINA PANTHERS INJURY REPORT (FRIDAY)

The Panthers will be without starting left tackle Cameron Erving and starting versatile linebacker Shaq Thompson. Two significant absences for Carolina.

Erving’s absence is especially noteworthy because the Panthers don’t have a very good offensive line; Carolina ranks 26th out of 32 teams in Pro Football Focus’s pass protection grading. If the Eagles’ defensive line can’t come alive against this group, well, that’s a big problem.

Star running Christian McCaffrey is officially DOUBTFUL to play in this game. That designation means that there’s a 75% chance the player sits out. Perhaps CMC will play if he has a really good pregame workout on Sunday morning but it’s not looking likely.

The Eagles spent time preparing for CMC this week but they’ll be quite OK if that preparation is for naught. McCaffrey is a big part of the Panthers’ offense and the Eagles will catch a break if he doesn’t play. CMC going up against Philly’s linebackers … yikes.

The Panthers will be without rookie Jaycee Horn, who got hurt in Week 3, in this one. They’ll also be without Stephon Gilmore despite just trading for him since he’s still beholden to the PUP list.
