Green Bay has locked in their divisional game against the 49ers, who are coming off a bye week, saving the Eagles from a rematch — at least for another week.

The Cowboys were absolutely demolished by the Packers in their Super Wild Card Weekend matchup on Sunday, and thanks to Dallas being entirely inept, Green Bay is set to play the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs next weekend.

With the Packers being the No. 7 seed, their win over the Cowboys gives them a matchup with the No. 1 NFC team, which could be a relief for the Eagles.

Philly came into the playoffs at the No. 5 seed, so initial thoughts were that a win over the Bucs on Monday night, would probably lead to a rematch with the Niners in the divisional round. Now that the Packers locked that one up as the lower seed, if the Eagles win this round, they’ll face the winner of the Rams-Lions game. The Eagles will actually host the Rams if Philly is able to beat Tampa.

While winning the NFC East was the ultimate goal, heading into the playoffs as the fifth seed may end up being a blessing in disguise. If nothing else, it at least eases up what will assuredly be a tough road back to the Super Bowl.
