Former Ohio State guard was briefly on the Giants practice squad at the beginning of the season

Linebacker Jarrad Davis, signed off the Detroit Lions practice squad on Wednesday, is not the only new member of the New York Giants. Wednesday afternoon the Giants announced that they had claimed guard Wyatt Davis off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals.

To make room for Davis on the 53-man roster, the Giants waived tight end Chris Myarick.

In an odd twist, the Giants had signed Davis, a second-year player, to their practice squad after 53-man rosters were initially announced. Arizona then signed Davis to its active roster from the Giants practice squad.

Davis, a 2021 third-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings, played in only two games for the Cardinals, getting just three offensive snaps. He played in only six games for Minnesota last season. For the Vikings he played 28 snaps, all on special teams.

Davis seems like offensive line insurance after the Giants finally placed Shane Lemieux (toe) back on injured reserve.

Myarick, a blocking tight end, played in 15 games this season with seven receptions. With Nick Vannett on the roster and Daniel Bellinger back in action, Myarick’s role had decreased in recent weeks. This is the second season in a row the Giants have cut Myarick near the end of the season. Last season, he was waived in Week 18 and was picked up by the eventual AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals.

Anyway, a couple of interesting late-season depth moves for the Giants.
