Jaguars wrap up draft-class signings as rookies report for camp

All nine players selected by Jacksonville this year have now been signed just in time for training camp.

Today, the Jaguars announced that it has officially wrapped up its 2021 draft class today, signing the remaining three out of a total of nine players selected this year.

Officially signed are first-round selection running back Travis Etienne, selected with the No. 25 pick this year, and second-round picks Tyson Campbell (33rd overall) and left tackle Walker Little (45th overall). The team had a total of four selections in the first two rounds this year.

The team’s rookies also reported for training camp today, setting the stage for this year’s season. Veterans will report to camp on July 27th.

The Jaguars were methodological with their selection process this year, making sure to acquire key positions of need with its early picks.

All of Etienne, Campbell and Little are expected to play major roles with the team within the year, becoming starters or key contributors. With demand for explosive running, the Jaguars eyed the running back out of Clemson to provide just that. Holding a record number of touchdowns in the ACC, he certainly will hope to provide it.

In 2020, he rushed for 956 yards on 168 attempts and 14 touchdowns. He added 48 receptions for 588 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He was named a First Team All-American three times in his career.

In Campbell, the Jaguars hope to add to its secondary that was severely hampered due to injuries just a season ago. Campbell is expected to play the nickel cornerback position for Jacksonville after playing primarily a boundary position at Georgia over the past few seasons.

While Little hasn’t played much football since 2018, the Jaguars selected him out of Stanford with the idea that his potential is through the roof. Highly regarded as one of the top offensive tackles coming out in 2017, Little has an opportunity to play plenty of snaps in Jacksonville if he is to live up to his potential.
