MNF Staff Picks: Can Kirk Cousins and the Vikings keep their playoff hopes alive with a win over the 49ers?

The Vikings will need a huge performance from Jordan Addison to have a shot at winning against this 49ers team.

Tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup pairs a Super Bowl contending San Francisco 49ers against the Minnesota Vikings. DraftKings Sportsbook currently has the Vikings as 7-point underdogs, with a 43.5-point Over/Under.

The 49ers left Cleveland last week with their first loss of the season, a surprise victory for a Browns team led by backup quarterback P.J. Waker. The game ended with concerning injuries to Christian McCaffrey (ribs), Trent Williams (ankle) and Deebo Samuel (shoulder). Samuel is expected to miss some time, and Williams is reportedly missing this Monday Night Football game as well. Christian McCaffrey is expected to play, but it’ll be interested to see how effective he is with his oblique strain. Running through tackles sounds pretty painful with that injury.

The Vikings have injuries of their own, as Justin Jefferson continues his IR stint, and left guard Ezra Cleveland’s foot injury has prompted the team to start newly acquired Dalton Risner to start in his place. Second year receiver Jalen Nailor and EDGE Marcus Davenport are also on the IR.

Vikings rookie Jordan Addison will have a very tough matchup tonight, lined up across PFF’s 15th ranked cornerback in Chararius Ward. T.J. Hockenson will have no easy matchup either, as Fred Warner is one of the top cover linebackers in the game. With all the offensive injuries to both teams, the best chance for the Vikings to win this game is likely on the defensive side of the ball, as the 49ers offensive line suddenly looks mediocre without Trent Williams on the blindside.
