Mitchell Wilcox entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020.

After hosting three tight ends, the New England Patriots have agreed to terms with one.

The organization announced the signing of Mitchell Wilcox on Monday, as first indicated by ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Wilcox, 27, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2020. The University of South Florida product went on to play in 48 games for the Cincinnati Bengals after beginning his stay on the practice squad. A 53-man roster promotion arrived at the conclusion of his rookie campaign. He caught 29 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown from there, making nine starts as well as consecutive playoff appearances for the previous AFC champions.

A veteran of 812 snaps on offense and 797 snaps on special teams, Wilcox was not tendered by Cincinnati as a restricted free agent in March. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound blocking tight end now joins a depth chart in Foxborough that includes La’Michael Pettway, Austin Hooper and extended team captain Hunter Henry.

Wilcox, who set Bulls program records at the position with 100 receptions, 1,326 yards and 11 scores, earned second-team All-AAC honors in 2016 and first-team All-AAC honors in 2018.

He worked out for the Patriots last week alongside former Los Angeles Rams tight end Brycen Hopkins and former Dallas Cowboys tight end Sean McKeon.
