Star pass-rusher didn’t practice all week

The Las Vegas Raiders are on the brink of missing a huge piece of their defense Sunday in a critical game against the Kansas City Chiefs at home Sunday (kickoff is set for 1:25 p.m. PT.

Star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby was listed as doubtful on the injury report to play Sunday with a knee injury. Crosby missed practice all week. Interim Raiders’ head coach Antonio Pierce said Friday that Crosby was getting treatment around the clock, before the injury report came out Friday

Crosby has played 77 NFL games without missing one. While he is needed to against the Chiefs, if playing could make it worse, sitting him may be for the best in the long run, especially since the Raiders have a bye week next week and then host Minnesota on December 10.

Crosby rarely comes off the field. He has played every snap of six of the past seven games and he played in 97 percent of the other game.

Crosby, who has 10.5 sacks in 11 games, is a brilliant player. he would be badly missed. It would put the onus on Malcolm Koonce and rookie Tyree Wilson. The No. 7 overall pick played just 27 percent of the snaps last week, his second fewest of the season.

Meanwhile, Las Vegas standout left tackle Kolton Miller has worked on a limited basis as all week and he is listed as questionable to play. He missed the past two games with a shoulder injury.

Safety Marcus Epps (neck), linebacker Robert Spillane (ankle) and safety Roderic Teamer (hamstring) are all also questionable to play.

For Kansas City, receiver Mecole Hardman (thumb) and running back Jerick McKinnon (groin) will not play Sunday.
