Raiders had opportunities, couldn’t cash in

The Las Vegas Raiders suffered their first loss under interim head coach Antonio Pierce in Week 11, falling 20-13 to the Miami Dolphins. The Raiders fought hard to make it a close game, but their offense—especially quarterback Aidan O’Connell—regressed and couldn’t get anything going after the first quarter.

O’Connell connected with Davante Adams for a 46-yard touchdown during the final seconds of the first frame, giving Las Vegas a 10-7 lead at the time. However, the Dolphins scored on the following possession to re-take the lead, and the Raiders offense didn’t get another first down for two more quarters.

Miami only scored six points in the second half as Las Vegas’ defense tightened up, however, that was more than enough. Three interceptions from O’Connell and two controversial decisions by Pierce to go for two fourth-down conversations kept the Silver and Black off the scoreboard in the second half, resulting in the loss.

The quarterback and head coach faced the media after the game, and below are a few of the highlights from the post-game press conferences and posts from X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

Pierce gave his thoughts on O’Connell’s performance.

Raiders got a little conservative and it sounds like that came from the top.

The rookie showed some awareness and gave the defense love after the game.

In what was a terrible game offensively for the most part, this was a nice play by Hunter Renfrow and good to see.

Renfrow also shared his thoughts on the game.

Mark Davis wasn’t a fan of the Raiders 4th and 3 play.

Maxx Crosby’s thoughts.

A nice quick breakdown of Adams’ touchdown by The Athletic’s Ted Nguyen, Adams had three defenders accounting for him on the play.

Q’s post below pretty much sums up the game for the Raiders.
