The Cowboys remaining schedule brings plenty of opportunity for an extended winning streak

How far can the Dallas Cowboys extend their win streak?

Time flies when you’re having fun. It seems as if it was just yesterday the Dallas Cowboys were kicking off the 2021 season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now we find ourselves with half the season in the rearview mirror. Thankfully, it’s been a fun ride so far and there’s no reason to believe that’s going to change anytime soon.

As things stand right now, the Cowboys currently sit at 6-1, riding a six-game win streak. And, if not for a few crucial plays in Week 1, they could be the only unbeaten team in the league. Despite that one loss, the Cowboys are showing they are a serious Super Bowl contender. To reach that goal, they still have a few obstacles standing in their way.

With second half of the season to play, it’s no time for the Cowboys to get complacent or overconfident. Taking a look at the remaining teams on the Cowboys schedule, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility to suggest the only way they lose another game is if they beat themselves. They could very well be their own worst enemy.

Dallas Cowboys remaining schedule

Take a second to look at the Cowboys opponents remaining on their schedule. Do you see a team that you can say with 100% certainty the Cowboys can’t beat? Unlikely, especially considering there are only three teams who currently have a winning record, one of which, the New Orleans Saints, just lost their quarterback to a season-ending injury.

Going by records alone, the Cowboys should easily make their way into the playoffs. That, of course, largely depends on how they play the remainder of the season. And, as luck would have it, there is reason to believe they will only continue to improve as the season progresses from here on out.

Reinforcements on the way

While the roster depth has been tested at times already this year, the Cowboys have been fortunate there haven’t been any season-ending injuries to key players, unlike last season. What’s even more encouraging on the injury front is there a few players set to return in the not-too-distant future who will be upgrades on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

When Michael Gallup and DeMarcus Lawrence are finally able to return from injured reserve, the Cowboys offense and defense will be much better for it. No offense to the players who have been filling in during their absence, but both Lawrence and Gallup are upgrades at the positions, and as such, will be welcomed back with open arms.

Oh, let’s not forget about Neville Gallimore either. He is without a doubt the Cowboys most disruptive interior defensive lineman, although Osa Odighizuwa has been doing an outstanding job playing that role so far this year. But, there’s no way of knowing when or if he may hit the rookie wall, which makes Gallimore’s return all the more important.

Cowboys players are a tightknit group

When it comes to team unity, the Cowboys might just have the most tightknit group of players they’ve had in decades. This year’s squad seems to be more focused on the overall team success and less on the success of individuals. Egos have been set aside and they are playing for one another right now, and it’s paying off.

Winning as a way of bringing everybody together and riding a six-game win streak looks to have helped this team develop a strong bond with one another. They’ve faced and overcome adversity already this year that in years past they wouldn’t have able to overcome. Case in point, just look how they rallied around Cooper Rush last week in his first career start.

There’s just a different feeling around this 2021 Cowboys squad. It’s almost as if they all have the same common goal and have developed tunnel vision to block out the outside noise in order to reach that goal. If they continue to play for one another and remain a tightknit group, there’s not a single thing that should stand in their way the rest of the regular season.
