For the first time since the Tennessee Titans started throwing money around this offseason, head coach Brian Callahan touched on the moves general manager Ran Carthon has made over the past few weeks.

One of the biggest was no doubt the signing of wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who Callahan says “brings an element that we really needed.”

“His speed, his ability to get in and out of breaks, to separate, are really kind of top level for the position in the league,” Callahan said, per Jim Wyatt. “He brings an element that we really needed, and the opportunity to add him was really awesome.”

Callahan admitted that missing on two or three free-agent targets opened up the funds Tennessee needed to ultimately get a deal with Ridley done.

“Truthfully, because we had had two or three other targets that were out there that we had allocated some money for, they ended up going to other places and all of a sudden we had more to offer,” he said.

Now, a look at the rest of Callahan’s comments on some of the team’s acquisitions this offseason. The Titans head coach also spoke about some of the team’s remaining needs, which you can check out here.
