Tennessee Titans second-year cornerback Roger McCreary managed to stand out in what was otherwise a bad season for the team’s secondary as a whole.

McCreary saw his completion rate allowed go up four percentage points, but he also surrendered two less yards per reception and his passer rating allowed dropped by 20 while also adding one pick and five pass break-ups.

Making those numbers more impressive is the fact that the former second-round pick was playing a new position in the slot after spending his rookie campaign and much of his college career on the outside.

After what was a quietly impressive season for McCreary, the Auburn product managed to make the cut on a list of the league’s best corners.

According to Pro Football Focus’ John Kosko, McCreary landed at No. 19 on the list. In terms of AFC cornerbacks only, he was 14th.

Tennessee has some work to do with its secondary, as the team needs to add a No. 1 cornerback, and quite possibly a No. 2 depending on what happens with Sean Murphy-Bunting.

Thankfully, one spot the Titans don’t have to worry about is the slot, where McCreary should be locked-in for at least the remainder of his rookie contract.
