With the status of quarterback Ryan Tannehill up in the air for Week 8, there has obviously been a lot of conversation about who the Tennessee Titans will start in his place if he can’t go, whether that be Will Levis or Malik Willis.

There are some who want to see more out of Willis, and there are others who are ready to see what Levis has, especially after another lackluster showing from the Liberty product in Week 6.

Before we can get to that point, Tannehill has to be ruled out. As far as that goes, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said the veteran signal-caller wouldn’t practice on Tuesday, which puts him on track to sit.

The more interesting thing to come from Vrabel’s presser was his response to who would play if Tannehill can’t. The Titans head coach said he anticipates both quarterbacks playing if Tannehill is sidelined.

“Ryan won’t practice today,” Vrabel said, per Jim Wyatt of the team’s official website. “We’ll see where he is at the end of the week. And I would imagine if Ryan can’t play, I would anticipate both of those quarterbacks playing in the football game. But Ryan is off of the roller, or walker, or whatever he had, and we’ll see where he is at the end of the week.”

I would be stunned if the Titans alternate the young signal-callers like they did in the preseason, which was a terrible idea then and would be an even worse idea now.

It’s much more likely that Vrabel is just being coy here, or he’s talking about giving whoever doesn’t start a package of plays.

I’d prefer to get a look at Levis at this point, but the Titans have to make sure he’s truly ready to at least compete, as it would be very bad for the Kentucky product’s development if he struggles mightily and gets benched for Willis.
