We know he’s fast, but just how fast is Jamo?
It’s no secret Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is fast, but seeing it in numbers really paints the picture.
According to Next Gen Stats, the second-year receiver reached 20.7 mph Sunday as he scored a reverse touchdown against the New Orleans Saints. Let’s first watch the play:

Now here it is in dots:
Jameson Williams reached a top speed of 20.70 mph on his 19-yard end around TD.
Williams has reached 20+ mph on 4 of his 16 career touches (25.0%), the highest rate in the NFL since 2022 (min. 10 touches).#DETvsNO | #OnePride pic.twitter.com/ypssV1RFed

That is one speedy dot, and it wasn’t just on this play in this game. NGS found Williams has hit 20 mph or more on four of his 16 touches so far in his career. Jamo’s 19-yarder didn’t crack the league’s top 20 fastest runs so far in 2023—for reference, DK Metcalf currently holds the No. 1 spot for his 22.23 mph sprint this week—but there are still quite a few games left. As Williams becomes more and more comfortable in the offense, it’s a safe bet he’ll have more chances to turn on the boosters.
And onto the rest of your notes.
- The Saints showed a compilation of brutal Lions moments on the stadium video screen. The Lions had a witty response.

- Speaking of Jamo, I am obsessed with their idea to show Lions their big plays right after the game to get raw reactions.

- Week after week, Detroit is racking up the yards — 347 in total against the Saints, if you were wondering.
The @Lions have set a single-season record by producing 325+ total net yards for the 12th-straight game.#OnePride pic.twitter.com/SeT3i8n9NM

- More evidence of Lions fans continuing to travel in hordes.
There’s no way to accurately capture how loud this “Let’s Go Lions” chat is, but probably the loudest I’ve heard on the road this early in a game.

- “The Lions offense looks dynamite, but questions still remain with the defense.” Lions received a B grade from CBS Sports’ John Breech.
- In case you missed this storyline, two of the three Sewell brothers of the NFL were up against each other in New Orleans — Penei and his linebacker brother Nephi. It appears from their dad’s tweet that it was the first time he was able to see two of his sons go up against each other. The article I included about the match up is for subscribers, but if you don’t want to pay, you can still enjoy the pic of the Sewell brothers as kids.
