After a long tenure with ESPN New York, the New York Jets will have a new radio station home in the 2024 NFL season

More changers are coming for the New York Jets outside of the gridiron in 2024.

According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, the team is moving away from its long-time radio station partner in ESPN New York. The Jets chose to go in a new direction in light of the 98.7 signal being dropped by ESPN.

For the 2024 season, the organization’s games will be broadcast on 104.3 FM, a classic rock station known as Q104.3. According to the article, Bob Wischusen and Marty Lyons are expected to remain the team’s respective play-by-play and color commentators.

The radio station switch is the end of an era for the Jets. After being on WFAN from 1993-2001, ESPN New York, known as WEPN, aired Jets’ games alongside WABC from 2002-2008.

WEPN gained the sole radio broadcast in 2008, airing the team’s games on its A.M. and F.M. stations until this past season.

While starting off strong, the ESPN New York era of Jets football was unfortunately mired by one of the longest stretches of losing football in recent NFL history.

Between the end of the Rex Ryan era, the lackluster Bowles years, and the disasters of Gase, there were not too many moments of excellence for the team while on the airwaves of ESPN.

When those moments did happen, the excellent broadcast booth of Wischusen and Lyons made sure to make it memorable, earning them the distinction of one of the best radio booths in the NFL.

The Jets now enter a new radio home in a year where success will be paramount on the field. If the organization can have a successful offseason, the beginning of the team’s tenure with 104.3 FM will most likely be more successful than the end of the ESPN era.
