Alexander (ankle) might miss Sunday’s playoff game against Dallas.

On Friday, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur announced in his post-practice press conference that cornerback Jaire Alexander (ankle) was going to be listed as questionable on the team’s final injury report of the week. During a walkthrough practice on Wednesday, Alexander — the All-Pro starting cornerback — was injured in what LaFleur called a “freak deal” when Alexander stepped on a teammate’s foot and rolled his own ankle.

If Alexander can’t go, Green Bay’s top outside cornerback options against the Dallas Cowboys this weekend will be rookie seventh-round pick Carrington Valentine and former practice squadder Corey Ballentine. Meanwhile, Dallas will be armed with Ceedee Lamb, who led the NFL in receptions in 2023 and finished second in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

Along with Alexander, receiver Christian Watson — who has dealt with several hamstring injuries this season — has been listed as questionable by the Packers. Watson was last seen on the field against the Kansas City Chiefs on December 3rd. His 2023 debut was also delayed as he opened the regular season on the injury report with his first hamstring issue of the year.

Running back AJ Dillon, who has been dealing with a neck and thumb injury, was called doubtful by LaFleur. Last week, Dillon was inactive versus the Chicago Bears and the Packers didn’t call a single running play for any back other than Aaron Jones. If Dillon can’t suit up against the Cowboys, it will be interesting to monitor if Green Bay will continue with the “Only Jones” strategy.

The good news on the injury front is that receiver Romeo Doubs, who was hospitalized after coughing up blood versus Chicago, and inside linebacker Isaiah McDuffie, who missed last week’s game with a concussion, are no longer on the injury report.

Dallas’ side of the injury report is extremely clean. Out of all 53 players on the Cowboys’ active roster, the only player who was listed as out, doubtful or questionable for Sunday’s action is backup quarterback Cooper Rush, who is listed as questionable with an illness.
