The Jets will do most of their draft works during the third day of the NFL Draft as five of their seven picks are in the last four rounds of the event.

Day 3 is a chance for teams to fill out their depth and potentially find diamonds in the rough. You won’t always find a Tom Brady, but you can find good players late in the draft.

Pro Football Focus analyst Gordon McGuinness recently picked out one potential Day 3 fit for each team and the Jets were given a west coast wide receiver in Jacob Cowing of Arizona.

Cowing earned a PFF receiving grade above 70.0 or better in all five of his college seasons between UTEP and Arizona. He’s going to fall down some draft board due to his size, but he has the speed to make an impact for the right NFL team.

Cowing caught 13 touchdown passes last season for the Wildcats and totaled 20 in his two seasons at Arizona. He played his first three seasons at UTEP which included 1,354 yards and seven touchdowns in 2021.

Cowing is undersized — he measured 5’8” and 171 pounds — but can make for an interesting development option in the slot for the Jets. Cowing could be an option for the Jets in round four, where they have two picks, No. 111 and No. 134.
