If the Browns NFL draft goes like this, GM Andrew Berry should get an “A” grade

The Cleveland Browns only have five draft picks with two weeks to go until they are finally on the clock. Despite those limited picks, GM Andrew Berry may not have room on the roster for five players especially later picks.

With the Browns scheduled to have their full allotment of draft picks in 2025 after three years without a first-round pick and more after the Deshaun Watson trade, Berry has some flexibility this year.

Trade up. Trade down. Trade out for picks next year.

For today’s Browns mock draft, we are looking at the trade-down variety but, to be a little extra, a version with two trade-downs that also help move the team up as well. We used Pro Football Network’s Mock Draft Simulator which allows for trades but doesn’t cost to use.

Cleveland started with these picks:

  • #54
  • #85
  • #156
  • #205
  • #243

After two trades, Berry ended up with the following picks:

  • #85
  • #88
  • #91
  • #105
  • #156
  • 4th Round pick in 2025

As you can see, a big drop from having their first pick at #54 to having it at #85 but four selections in the top 105 is a big boost from having four picks in the top 205.

On to the actual Browns mock draft selections:

Third Round

OT Kiran Amegadjie, Yale

An athletic player with all the traits you want for a starting left tackle, Amegadjie needs some work on consistency and details. Level of competition will also be a concern for some NFL teams allowing him to be available here. For Cleveland, letting him sit for a year to develop before starting in 2025 is the perfect role.

DE Marshawn Kneeland, Western Michigan

Another very athletic player, Kneeland has a chance to be a rotational piece for Jim Schwartz’s defense in year one with his versatile ability to rush the passer from the edge or slide inside to do the same.

WR Jermaine Burton, Alabama

A deep ball threat on the outside, Burton has nuanced route-running ability but will thrive going long which could give him a role right away in Cleveland while allowing him to develop behind fellow Crimson Tide alums Amari Cooper and Jerry Jeudy.

Fourth Round

RB Audric Estime, Notre Dame

Estime is a very good player but his testing doesn’t match what we saw on the field during his time with the Fighting Irish. With the depth of the running back class, Estime could get lost and fall a round or two later than he should. The Browns scoop him up as, potentially, their Nick Chubb replacement in a year or two.

Fifth Round

TE Theo Johnson, Penn State

Johnson, like three of the four players above, is an athletic threat at his position. With Cleveland lacking a developmental tight end to go along with David Njoku. Snagging Johnson here fixes that long-term need.

What do you think of the multiple trade-down process leading to four picks in the top 105? Then, what do you think of the five-player draft class acquired with those picks (full class seen below for reference)?
