The LA Rams claimed OL Ryan Pope off waivers on Wednesday, adding depth to a position that they’ve been trying to add depth to for some time. The Rams had been looking at the recently-released OL Lamont Gaillard on waivers but were low on the priority list. This time, they were able to claim Pope and add him to the 90-man roster ahead of Saturday’s preseason matchup against the LA Chargers.

Pope could be a player who the Rams would like to keep around for the rest of practice with more than four weeks left to go before the regular season opener. Perhaps then he could make it onto the practice squad, but it is unlikely that Pope would make the final 53-man roster out of a group that includes a lot of players with at least two years of experience on the team.

Undrafted out of San Diego State in 2019, the 6’7, 315 lb Long Beach native will now get another opportunity after being waived by the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday.
