Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 11/30/23

They say never say never, but it does seem like Stetson Bennett will never be playing for the Los Angeles Rams this season. Sean McVay basically said as much not so long ago. However next year is a new year, so maybe Bennett will be ready by then? I have no idea what is keeping him away but I hope he is doing well.

In the meantime the Rams need to make plans. Can they count on Bennett next year? Should they draft someone? Is Carson Wentz the potential future backup or more? How many more years can Matthew Stafford bring?

We brought all the questions today so please let us know your thoughts in the comments below! Comment on whatever you’d like. Thank you to our readers and viewers and have a great Thursday!

Don’t rule out LA Rams QB Stetson Bennett for a significant role in 2024 (ramblinfan)

“The topic of the LA Rams investing in a young quarterback is a pretty hot right now, particularly in light of the fact that the Houston Texans invested in rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud after a 3-13 record in 2022. This year, the Houston Texans have already doubled their wins at a record of 6-4, and have seven more games to play. So it’s tough not to see the instant success of the Texans and not project a similar quick turn around for the LA Rams, if only the Rams would draft a solid rookie quarterback.

There are reasons why the Rams may consider such an investment in the 2024 NFL Draft to be a wise choice. But the Rams front office is seasoned enough to know that the Rams cannot draft a rookie to compete at any position unless they are the right fit for the Rams roster. Sometimes they fit like a glove, and sometimes they will eventually fit the Rams system with a bit of coaching, patience, and experience.

Will the Rams draft a quarterback in 2024?”

Browns could start Joe Flacco vs. Rams in Week 13, with Dorian Thompson-Robinson in concussion protocol (cbssports)

“Thompson-Robinson suffered a concussion in the 29-12 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The rookie completed 14 of 29 passes for 134 yards and one touchdown, and was replaced by P.J. Walker, who threw for 56 yards. Flacco has now surpassed Walker on the depth chart, and Stefanski has made the decision that the former Baltimore Ravens star will start against the Rams if it comes down to it.

Flacco last played for the New York Jets in 2022. He started four games, going 1-3, and threw for 1,051 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in five total games played. He started the season for the Jets as starter with Zach Wilson sidelined due to injury.”

Incredibly, this Rams mind-blowing pattern appears to be happening once more (ramblinfan)

“The Rams adopted a radically different approach to the 2023 NFL season, Rather than restock the Rams roster with returning players, accomplished veterans, and rounding out the team with young players. the Rams shed all veterans with the exception of DT Aaron Donald, TE Tyler Higbee, RT Rob Havenstein, QB Matthew Stafford, and WR Cooper Kupp.

That strategy left the Rams roster at less than half of the 90-man allowance of players as the Rams entered the 2023 NFL Draft. With some carefully orchestrated trades, the Rams were able to address almost all roster needs with 14 selections in the 2023 NFL Draft, plus a solid crop of undrafted rookies.”
