Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 4/13/24

It’s full blown rumor season (it kinda always is) in the NFL as teams get ready for the NFL Draft. There’s doesn’t even neccessarily need to be facts. People can write an article, or talk on a TV show and boom we have a rumor! An interesting piece of speculation is that the Los Angeles Rams have potentially been doing their due diligence around drafting a QB. This shouldn’t be surprising because every team should be accessing every position.

The expectation seems to be that Matthew Stafford is good to go for another year or two or three (or who knows?), but LA would be somewhat foolish to not do their homework on every position. including quarterback.

No real question today but let us know what you think! It’s Saturday so my hope is everyone can have a great weekend and I want to thank EVERYONE for their comments, their feedback and their interactions! This website, these articles, they take all of us! Thank you for hanging out with Turfshowtimes!

Rams have been ‘sniffing around’ QBs in 2024 draft (ramswire)

“Mike Giardi of the Boston Sports Journal shared a tidbit this week that the Rams are among the teams “sniffing around signal callers in this draft.”

As for McCarthy, he helped himself more by not being here than he probably would have had he shown up. The Michigan National Championship-winning quarterback passed on the chance to show out in Mobile and, with the other two big names scuffling, may have solidified a spot at the top of tier 2, QB-wise. Where will that land him? Atlanta (#8), Minnesota (11), Las Vegas (13), Seattle (16), LA Rams (19), Pittsburgh (20), and Tampa Bay (26) have all been sniffing around signal callers in this draft, in addition to the top 3 teams.

It would make some sense if the Rams drafted a quarterback early, but it would have to be the right prospect. They shouldn’t reach for someone like Bo Nix at No. 19 just for the sake of drafting a quarterback.”

Where Are They Now? Former Rams o-lineman & Super Bowl champion Mike Gruttadauria (therams.com)

“Which sounds maybe glamorous, but it was anything but glamorous,” Gruttadauria laughed. “It was basically garbage collectors, where they send us in trucks to go pick up mosquito-infested, muddy tires. I was on a truck with my uncle, and it was on the bad side of town, in a back alley, and there’re maybe 40 tires I’ve got to bring up to the truck.

“And, of course, you learn the hard way that when you’re in a back alley and three or four tires are stacked up perfectly, that is a homeless person’s bathroom. Yeah, it was gross work, but still, my goal to make it in the NFL was strong. I’d be curling semi tires. I’d be doing military presses with semi tires. Other guys are rolling them. I wanted to lift them.”

Following the 1995 season, the Cowboys were interested in signing Gruttadauria again. However, so were the Rams. And after he discovered what was happening at the team’s facility in St. Louis, Dallas didn’t have a chance.

“What blew my mind is, I learned they were showing my film from the preseason games. I was big on always trying to look for downfield blocks, get defenders hanging on the pile. Play to the echo of the whistle,” Gruttadauria said.”

Ho-hum free agency signing by Rams is 1 more strategically sound move (ramblinfan)

“The latest extension is one for ILB Troy Reeder. Is it a significant extension for the team? Perhaps not. But there are reason why this is a strategically sound move.

Ultimately, the LA Rams are not just focusing on the 2024 NFL season, but looking at OTAs, training camp, and the preseason games as well.,

While fans applauded the extensions of WR Demarcus Robinson, LT Alaric Jackson, and RG Kevin Dotson, the bravos were noticeably absent as the team extended RB Ronnie Rivers, OLB Michael Hoecht, DT Larrell Murchison, WR Tyler Johson, ILB Christian Rozeboom, and now ILB Troy Reeder.”

Random Fandom: My Final 2024 Rams mock draft (By Ferragamo15 on Apr 11, 2024)

“2024 Mock Draft

I’m using the NFLMDD simulator, only the Rams, not controlling any other NFL teams.

A couple surprise picks early in the 1st round (Ladd McConkey was pick 18) resulted in a bunch of big name prospects being available to the Rams at 19, including Joe Alt, Taliese Fuaga, Laiatu Latu, Byron Murphy, Brian Thomas Jr., Nate Wiggins, Chop Robinson and Tyler Guyton. I didn’t choose any of those players.

19. Brock Bowers, TE. Last year, Sam LaPorta set the single-season NFL record for receptions by a rookie TE. He had 86-889-10. IMO, Bowers and LaPorta aren’t even on the same tier as prospects, Bowers is way better.

In the 2nd round, I traded pick 52 and pick 99 to move up to pick 39. We give up 145 points on the trade chart and get 153 points in return. Available players at 39 include Kool-Aid McKinstry, Graham Barton, Michael Penix Jr., Xavier Worthy, Jordan Morgan, Payton Wilson and Edgerrin Cooper.

39. Ennis Rakestraw, Jr., CB. I feel that Rakestraw is different than the other CBs in the pool. He’s the only one that I view as having true “shutdown man coverage” characteristics. This is why I’m willing to give up a pick to get him. If we didn’t make this trade, we could have gotten Max Melton at 52. I have a 1st round grade on Rakestraw.

In the 3rd rd, available players at 83 included Maason Smith, Adisa Isaac, Blake Corum, Devontez Walker, Kam Kinchens, Calen Bullock and Jaden Hicks.”
