Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 4/12/24

The Los Angeles Rams may not be playing a regular season NFL game until September, but that doesn’t mean that their season hasn’t already begun. LA is preparing for the draft and they are bringing with them an assortment of picks. The Rams should be able to maintain flexibility this draft in so far as there are a number of ways they can positively address the team. The good news is that LA seemingly has enough money to cover their draft picks and then some.

Draft day can’t get here fast enough. Please comment on whatever you’d like and have a great Friday! Thanks for checking out Turfshowtimes!

Rams salary cap update: How much space does LA have ahead of the draft? (ramswire)

“Not only do the Rams have nearly a dozen draft picks, but they still have enough cap space to sign a few more veterans if they’d like to. With White’s contract now on the books, Over The Cap provided an update on the Rams’ current cap space.

According to OTC, the Rams have $11.55 million in cap space available. That ranks 18th in the NFL. When you factor in the incoming draft class, which is expected to take up about $3.82 million in cap room, the Rams have $7.72 million in effective cap space. That’s also 18th in the league.

That’s not a significant amount, but with the way the Rams have structured contracts this offseason, they would be able to add at least one more veteran in free agency. The only two players they signed this offseason with 2024 cap hits larger than $4.67 million are Jonah Jackson ($13.67 million) and Dotson ($12.67 million).”

“Per Over the Cap, Rams fans now know the full extent of White’s contract.

His deal is worth $4.25 million for one season. In turn, his cap charge for the coming season is $3.485 million.

White will see $3.25 million in guaranteed money – $1.5 million of guaranteed salary and a signing bonus worth $1.75 million. The rest of White’s potential earnings lie in $1 million worth of per-game roster bonuses, which he is expected to hit.”

Random Fandom: Let’s draft Stafford’s apprentice….next year. (By CDNGolfer on Apr 9, 2024)

“So many mocks have us taking a QB with the 19th pick and I just shake my head for a couple of reasons. Number one, I believe we’re a couple or three pieces away from dominating the NFC this year and we should be drafting with ‘need now’ parameters. Taking a future piece would be counter productive to our goals for this year. The second reason is that I simply don’t believe there are any QB’s in this draft that can carry a team. There’s not one with a full NFL arsenal of throws and, to be honest, there’s probably 8 or 9 starters in the league right now that don’t. I see a lot more Bryce Youngs than CJ Strouds available.

So why next year? Well, as I was watching tape on Jaylen Coker (nice WR) I kept looking back to see who was throwing these terrific passes? Then I watched his tape. He’s just what the doctor ordered, a mobile QB with an NFL arm. His name is Matthew and he wears number 9. Well….that’s a sign.
