Ravens training camp 2021: Post-Practice Day 1

The journey begins

Practice has ended and here are the notes for today’s performance.

Obviously, the talk of today’s practice is quarterback Lamar Jackson’s absence. According to reports, he is expected to miss 10 days of practice with a positive COVID test. This is the second positive test in two days after running back Gus Edwards tested yesterday. Far from an ideal beginning to the 2021 season with the starting quarterback and the 1B tailback both out for 10 days.

Player of the Practice

Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, wide receiver

Couldn’t imagine a better practice to begin the season for Hollywood, as he toasted two cornerbacks for deep-ball touchdowns today. Both times, Hollywood let his foe know he won with a wave after catching the ball. After tight end Mark Andrews said Hollywood would shock the world, he produced two scores in camp. Hopefully this is an indication of how the season will be.

Player Notes

Bradley Bozeman, center

Struggled today in practice with snaps. A couple sailed past the quarterback and a third went rather high. According to Head Coach John Harbaugh, Bozeman said it was his glove throwing him off. I didn’t see the glove removed so I don’t know if all snaps were due to the glove or a fitting issue. Either way, Bozeman is transitioning to an old position and I don’t expect perfection on day one. This isn’t a panic issue, just worth noting.

Trace McSorley, quarterback

Liked the throws from McSorley today. Hit Hollywood on a deep strike and overall didn’t see him make costly decisions.

Tyler Huntley, quarterback

Some good throws out of Huntley in Jackson’s absence, today. He also has playmaking ability with his legs and found a seam on the left side for a first down after the pass coverage smothered the receivers.

The Baltimore Ravens training camp is underway! After yesterday’s media session and all veterans reporting, today is the first practice with media and fans in the stands.
