Steelers legend Jerome Bettis offers some perspective on Kenny Pickett

Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers perceived confidence in quarterback Kenny Pickett, the team did not hesitate to sign former Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson at the first opportunity in free agency.

Bettis was on the Dan Patrick Show and offered some perspective on how he views the present and the future at quarterback for the Steelers and where both guys fit in.

“I think Russell Wilson is the guy that you need right now for wins,” Bettis said on The Dan Patrick Show. “I think if you look at Kenny Pickett, he’s gonna be the guy for the future.

“You bring in a hired gunslinger, basically is what you’re doing,” Bettis added. “I think it makes sense because everybody’s on the hot seat, right? It’s a must-win scenario. I think coach [Mike] Tomlin gets it, and he’s like, listen, we gotta win tomorrow, and this is the best way for them to do that.”

The problem with all of this is how will a season on the sidelines impact Pickett after how things went in 2023.
