Texans won’t see Bryce Young throw at NFL combine; C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson will

The Houston Texans won’t get to see Alabama quarterback Bryce Young sling a few passes on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium during the NFL combine this week.

The same can be said for the other 31 teams as well. According to Doug Farrar from the Touchdown Wire, the Crimson Tide signal caller will wait until his pro day to showcase his passing skills.

Young has little to nothing to prove as a thrower or as a runner after his incendiary collegiate career; he’s the consensus No. 1 prospect at the position. The only real question about Young can be answered at the combine: How tall is he officially, and what does he weigh? Young’s unofficial height of 6-foot-0 and unofficial weight of 194 both make him outliers in the modern NFL. If he measures in shorter and lighter than that… well, there will be conversations in NFL offices about that, though Young’s on-field performances should still win the day.

Who can increase their draft stock by participating in the throwing drills are Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and Florida’s Anthony Richardson. The two quarterbacks, who are considered behind Young in the draft class, can make their case as to why more than their college tape needs to be considered if a team is looking for a young quarterback. A good performance will also resonate throughout the entire draft process until their pro days when they can demonstrate consistency with another stellar workout.
