It’s no secret that the Jets’ defense runs through its front-four. That strength isn’t lost on Titans coach Mike Vrabel, who praise Robert Saleh’s defensive line before Tennessee’s Week 4 match against the Jets.

“I would imagine that this’ll be one of the best, if not the best, defensive fronts we’ll play this year,” Vrabel said Wednesday. “[Quinnen] Williams, [Foley] Fatukasi, [Sheldon] Rankins, [John] Franklin-Myers, [Nathan] Shepherd. They roll them one after another.”

The unit hasn’t dominated the stat sheet but routinely wins at the line of scrimmage. As a team, the Jets rank fifth in the league in pass-rush and run stop win rate. per ESPN. Jets linemen fall in the top-10 in those metrics as well. Williams and Rankins rank third and fourth in the NFL among interior defenders in pass-block win rate. Shaq Lawson and Bryce Huff rank first and second in run-stop win rate among edge rushers. Fatukasi ranks seventh against the run among defensive tackles.

This all boils down to the Jets’ malleable defense, which allows yardage but not a lot of points. The team needs to finish, though, which means forcing turnovers and sacking the quarterback. So while the defensive line is certainly menacing, they need to be completely disruptive as well if the Jets want to win more games this season.
